It’s a real departure from the R&B Funk Jazz Salsa stuff I’ve done in the past. It felt great returning to my musical roots! All the songs except for “Dejem Que me Emborache” are songs written or co-written by my father Gilberto Lopez. The majority of the songs date back to the 1960’s when my father was a guard in the “tower” of the New Mexico state penitentiary. The others were written not long after that.

Although other artists have recorded some of these songs, my brothers and I have not really ever recorded them. At least not this way, the way Dad always wanted to hear them.

Jerry Lopez strives to achieve excellence in every endeavor that he pursues. From record and jingle production and musical direction to consultation in every area of music and recording. The list of artists that Jerry has performed with, recorded for, and produced, is longer than this website allows, but some of them include: Ricky Martin, Tom Scott, Bill Champlin, Jay Graydon, Larry Williams, Grover Washington Jr., and many many more. Jerry was invited to be the guitarist/vocalist in the first Latin Grammy show for the “Tribute to Tito Puente” segment as part of the “super band” which consited of musical greats like: Celia Cruz, Michele Camilo, Gloria Estefan, Carlos Santana, Arturo Sandoval, David Sanchez, Cheito, Cachao, Sheila E. among others.

Jerry’s ability to move between the Latin and Pop cultures seamlessly, and his fastidious approach to each project has made him one of the most sought after Musical Directors and Producers, as well as tour and studio musicians in the business today. His compositions, vocals, and guitar work are heard all over the world in different languages and in different styles. A real “Pro” in every sense of the word, Jerry has gained the respect of everyone he has ever worked with over the years and still maintains a youthful and energetic attitude about his music. “I never give less than everything I’ve got to any given task. If I don’t think I can really dig in and have a great time, and contribute to a project, I will turn it down rather than do it halfway.”
Jerry’s presence in any unit is like “glue” that holds it all together, whether in a vocal section or a rhythm section.

MY MOTTO

There is but one rule of conduct for a man – to do the right thing. The cost may be dear in money, in friends, in a prolonged and painful sacrifice; but the cost not to do right is far more dear: you pay in the integrity of your manhood, in honor, in truth, in character. You forfeit your soul’s content, and for a timely gain you barter the infinities. ~ Archer G. Jones
